Lagarde is the oldest winery in America to become a B Corporation

Bodega Lagarde, founded in 1897, received the B Certification as a triple impact company from B Lab, a global organization that brings together more than 2,500 companies in 50 countries and 130 sectors with a single purpose: that all companies compete to be the best for the world. Lagarde became the oldest winery in America and the largest in Latin America to join the global community of B Corporations.

Since its foundation, Lagarde has accompanied the production of its wines with a management model that promotes respect for people, the community and the environment. In each bottle, we honor what nature offers us through the earth, the climate and the vineyard.

Being a B Corporation involves measuring our social and environmental impact, and committing professionally, institutionally and legally to making decisions considering the long-term consequences of each action in the community and the environment.

"I discovered B Lab thanks to several entrepreneurs that are friend of mine and who were already working on it. They kept telling me that it was something that we had to study for Lagarde. Mainly, these are people that I admire for having a vision that goes beyond simply making money: they see their companies as sources of development for their employees while seeking to generate a positive impact all around. That is what we look for in Lagarde. We do not want to just be a business, but we also want to positively impact our employees, our community and the nature that surrounds us", said Sofía Pescarmona, CEO and co-owner of Lagarde winery.

The B movement is not guided by any particular ideology or person, but by thousands of people who want to work for a better world. The fundamental basis is the belief that companies can be agents of change and contribute to the solution of major social and environmental issues. In a few words: they all work for an economy where success is measured by the well-being of people, societies and nature.

Therefore, Lagarde joins a global movement of corporations that seek to be change makers, using the strength of the market to provide solutions. Precisely, thinking about the environment, last year we launched our first range of organic wines, certified by the OIA.

In addition, the company collaborates with different foundations, such as Aves Argentinas, and for many years, has been implementing recycling programs. In the last year alone, we have been training our staff in waste disposal.

"With a strong sense of commitment, we took on the challenge of becoming a B Corporation and joining a global movement that wants to provide solutions to social and environmental issues. We constantly make sure that our actions have favorable consequences around us. We believe there is a better way to make wines ", added Sebastián Barboza, general manager of the winery.

Along the same line, the head of the quality department at Lagarde, Florencia Castellani, concluded: "Certifying as a B Corporation was a real challenge. We had to implement new actions internally that involved real interdisciplinary teamwork. It is very satisfying to belong to this global movement, since it implies continuous and constant improvement, in which we will undoubtedly work with great enthusiasm".
