Lagarde loves LIMA!

Tags: Lima, Trips, Recomendados
One of the capital cities in Latin America, Lima is certainly a pleasant surprise, welcoming guests with its first-class cuisine, handcrafted piscos, and the joy of its locals. We at Lagarde feel very lucky indeed to be able to visit this wonderful city every year, so we wanted to share with you a few of the places you should absolutely visit when in Lima and experience their cuisine, besides tasting some of our wines paired with the local dishes. All of the restaurants mentioned below offer wines from Lagarde.

Rafael
Rafael is already a classic in Lima cuisine. Guests here will be delighted by the chef Rafael Osterling and his elegant typical dishes, a warm atmosphere and the personalized attention offered by the staff. We suggest trying the following dishes (although the menu is renewed often):
Start by a pisco sour, made with the wonderful pisco acholado (a blend) of Cuatro Gallos, or a chilcano (pisco-based cocktail drink).
Try the fabulous choros a la chalaca (edible ribbed mussels), paired with a Lagarde Viognier, which will truly enhance the flavors in the dish.http://www.rafaelosterling.pe

El Pan de La Chola
For a good start of your day, El Pan de La Chola is a magical place where you may order delicious juice or try some of their freshly-baked toast right there. A typical place where limeños meet for a rendezvous or for an early coffee in the morning.

El Mercado
Another eating venue by Rafael Osterling, El Mercado is perfect for a large party who wishes to enjoy lunch on Saturdays. Tiraditos (Peruvian raw fish) are particularly special when accompanied by a Lagarde Rosé, and this place's grilled octopus is out of this world! http://www.rafaelosterling.pe

 Central Restaurant
Central, by Virgilio Martinez, needs no introduction. Ranking first among Latin American restaurants, Central is a true treat to the senses. Virgilio and his team's genius and creativity are a rare wonder that deserves to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Make your reservation in advance!
The wine menu, supervised by Greg Smith, is yet another highlight, featuring some unique details such as vertical tastings of great iconic South American wines.

Maido
The king of Nikkei cuisine is a space worthy of worldwide recognition. Anyone visiting this restaurant in Miraflores will be both surprised and speechless by the young chef Mitsuharu Tsumura.
Argentine sommelier Florencia Rey will suggest the best wine to pair with your culinary adventure, in the ultimate expression of Nikkei cuisine.

Cultural Agenda
MATE Mario Testino Museum
Amidst all that pisco, we wanted to dive into another cultural activity, which is why we visited the MATE Mario Testino Museum, named after the iconic Peruvian fashion photographer. Located in the district of Barranco, the Haute Couture exhibition is pure pleasure. Testino's photography captures the wonders behind Peru's Andean communities and their traditional festive costumes.
