Lagarde presents the new harvest of its high-end olive oil
Bodega Lagarde presents the 2019 harvest of “Olivos de Lagarde”, the extra virgin olive oil produced with the fruit of its centuries-old olive trees, located in its main estates in the area of Luján de Cuyo. This time, we chose to make a blend of the varieties Empeltre, Arauco and Manzanilla.
To obtain the best characteristics of each olive, the harvest is done manually, adopting the “brucatura” method, created in Tuscany (Italy).
The aromas of this blend are intense, vivacious and fresh. It has a powerful taste and the Arauco stands out predominantly thanks to its strength and vegetal flavor. The aftertaste is lush and persistent. Since it is bottled by natural decantation and we don’t´ filter it afterwards, it is not 100% crystalline.
This olive oil is ideal for seasoning dishes with green leaves, all kinds of mushrooms, antipastos, white meat, pasta, river fish and neutral cheeses.
“Olivos de Lagarde” is for sale in our winery but also in specialty stores and wine shops across Argentina. It comes in two sizes: 250 ml and 500 ml and the retail prices are $200 and $350 each.
Story
The olive trees used to make this high end olive oil are famous for their centennial age and for being located in Luján de Cuyo, land of great olive potential. They are raised following traditional methods, with a wide planting frame that allows plants to grow and vegetate in optimal conditions. We work to produce very few olives per plant so that the quality of each fruit is the best.
Elaboration Process
The grinding is done within the hour of harvesting it, under the direct control of our oil producer. The extraction is carried out at a maximum temperature of 26 ° C and the whole cycle is carried out under saturation of inert gas, to avoid oxidation. The bottling is done by fall after the simple natural decantation.
