Michelin stars for Bodega Lagarde's cuisine

Michelin stars for Bodega Lagarde's gastronomy

The world of gastronomy is celebrating by welcoming the MICHELIN Guide of Argentina, which reveals the best places to eat in Buenos Aires and Mendoza. This is how Michelin highlighted, after announcing the stars and mentions to the distinguished restaurants that are already part of its first edition in Argentina, marking a milestone in the gastronomy of Mendoza and the country.

The Guide shows a total of 71 establishments (52 in Buenos Aires and 19 in Mendoza), where diners will quickly appreciate that Argentine cuisine offers much more than its famous grilled meats. "There is a high level of technique throughout the selection, along with establishments that show great consideration for sustainability and a desire to champion the large amount of ingredients grown or produced throughout the country," Michelin notes.

Lagarde, on the other hand, dedicating years to its winemaking and gastronomy, received three very important distinctions:

Following these historic achievements, Sofia Pescarmona, owner of Bodega Lagarde and its restaurants, said: "Today we celebrate our first MICHELIN stars. We are happy to share our history and culture, where each recipe carries the reflection of our landscape. A recognition that always drives us to continue exploring, innovating and sharing our passion for gastronomy."

On the other hand, the chef of Zonda, Cocina de Viñedo, Augusto García expressed: "the experience we offer is of excellence and I am proud of our team. Our proposal starts early, with a breakfast for visitors, a visit to our organic orchard and then a cooking class, where we culminate with a menu of steps harmonized with great vintages of the winery."

Bringing raw materials from the garden to the table has an added value when they come from the farm itself, as they acquire personality and enrich the narrative when building a recipe book. The Lagarde winery, in Luján de Cuyo, is famous both for the excellent quality of its wines and for the fact that it has its own organic vegetable garden (tomatoes, lettuce, chili peppers, chard, pomegranates, aromatic herbs...), with a plantation of olive trees and other crops that also supply the restaurant. Zonda, Cocina de Paisaje, seeks to pay homage to the most local gastronomy, that which exudes Cuyo DNA, simple and honest in its forms but elevated to haute cuisine levels by offering delicate textures and beautiful presentations. In its elegant rustic dining room, with a terrace overlooking the vineyards, you can discover up to four tasting menus: Experiencia Paisaje, Experiencia Zonda, Cuyano and Gilanco (Michelin Guide).

The Michelin "green" star is a distinction that highlights restaurants with sustainable practices, which propose a gastronomic experience that brings together excellence and eco-responsibility, giving shape to an alternative and especially ethical gastronomic model.

"We invite you to walk through our farms with the idea of sharing the Andean culture, because the best recipes reflect the landscape. Good cuisine begins in the land, in the natural products it gives us and in the hands of the farmers who take care of it", emphasizes chef Augusto García.

Michelin Mention for Fogón, Cocina de Viñedo (Fogón, Vineyard Cuisine)

Here, within the Lagarde winery (in Luján de Cuyo, about half an hour from Mendoza), the commitment to local gastronomy as a complement to the wine experience is total, because between this restaurant and the Zonda, they manage to exalt its history, its link with the environment and its location in a beautiful natural environment. The access to Fogón is after crossing the winery's store, where you can also taste food and have a few wines. In its room, with high ceilings and with the kitchen at the end of it, you will have the possibility of choosing between two tasting menus, both with pairings of the winery itself, and a menu that clearly betting on the magnificent Argentine grilled meats (Ojo de bife, Colita de cuadril, T-bone. It is possible to have lunch outdoors in front of the vineyards (Michelin Guide).

 Mendoza, the big winner.

The Michelin Guide Argentina reaffirms Mendoza's position as a culinary epicenter of excellence and highlights the connection between the land, natural products and the ability of Argentine chefs to take gastronomy to new heights.

They also point out that Mendoza is also an undoubted attraction in its own right. The culture and heritage of food and wine go hand in hand, impressing every visitor with impressive wine cellars that often house restaurants of the highest level.

For her part, Sofía Pescarmona emphasizes: "These are very important achievements for Argentine gastronomy. It positions us as a country where people travel to see the gastronomic scene. For Mendoza, it is transcendental, first for having four stars and another three green stars. It generates a lot of enthusiasm and challenges us to continue innovating, developing and growing. It opens the doors to other regions of Argentina so that they can follow the path. Food and wine tourism is an important growth opportunity for our country. The diversity and quality of our products are worthy of placing more and more value on them."
