An exclusive Viognier from Lagarde joins Proyecto Hermanas

The diversity in the tastes of the sisters is what pushes and motivates the creation of Proyecto Hermanas. Sofía is captivated by white wines, while Lucila is inclined to reds and varieties that are beginning to set trends. The line is composed of a White Blend that varies from year to year, a unique Chardonnay from Gualtallary, a balanced and elegant Malbec-Cabernet Franc, and a juicy Pinot Noir with marked tannins. Each wine is an opportunity to discover different areas with their own stories and styles.

The grapes of this Viognier are hand-picked from an exceptional parcel from the La Jacintana estate (Luján de Cuyo). The soils that nourish these plants are sandy-loam, that is, well-drained and aerated, with a very low percentage of clay and a large amount of sand and silt. This generates sufficient permeability to obtain low water and nutrient retention, which is concentrated in a few berries, as the yields are low.

The winery was a pioneer in planting Viognier in our country. The Pescarmona family introduced these vines from Condrieu, France, in the early 1990s. The Lagarde Viognier, the winery's emblem, has been a reference in the market, positioning itself as one of the best of this variety in South America. This new release, under the wing of Proyecto Hermanas, is fermented and aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, giving it a more complex expression and great structure.

Proyecto Hermanas Viognier surprises with aromas of linden tea, white flowers, peach, tropical fruit and a silky, unctuous palate with marked acidity. Subtle notes of oak appear well blended, closing with a persistent finish. Ideal with Asian food, such as sashimi, Thai recipes or fatty fish dishes and a good risotto.

About the winery

Founded in 1897, Lagarde was acquired in 1969 by the Pescarmona family, who stamped it as a family winery producing high-end wines in Argentina and the world. Today, the winery is run by Sofía, who is the CEO, and Lucila, who lives in the United States and works in the Foreign Trade area. Both are third generation winemakers and work to create unique wines that have a perfect balance between the past that lasts and the projection into the future, maintaining a strong sustainable commitment to the land and its people.
