Proyecto Hermanas, a new range of wine by Lagarde
Sofía and Lucila Pescarmona are women who love nature and love to protect the dreams that come with each new harvest. That is the essence of Proyecto Hermanas, the new high-end range of wines from Bodega Lagarde, consisting of four labels: Chardonnay, White Blend, Pinot Noir and Malbec-Cabernet Franc.
The seed for this project was planted in 2013, when both women launched a unique line of wines named Guarda Sisters´ Selection, which sought to reflect the personal taste of each of the sisters, who are third generation of wine growers from Mendoza and are in charge of the 100 year old winery, located in Luján de Cuyo.
This experience became the stepping ground for a range of exclusive wines that seek balance and expressiveness. The goal here is to discover magic in each harvest and to produce wines accordingly.
Proyecto Hermanas wines are born from grapes that come mostly from Gualtallary, in Valle de Uco. The White Blend, for example, is a cut that will change every year, and precisely, the idea with this line is to constantly experiment and innovate.
“These wines are the dream of two sisters who threw a question into the air, seeking to forge their own style and bring the geographical distances between them. For a few years now, Lucila has lived in the United States, while I remained in Mendoza. However, our opposing personalities achieve an inexplicable balance when working together and that reflects the complicity of our sisterhood”, explains Sofía Pescarmona, CEO and Co-owner of Lagarde.
Lucila, meanwhile, adds: “Creating these wines was an opportunity to miss each other less, but also to laugh at the differences that define us. It is a way to pay tribute to our heritage and the nature that surrounds us. There is no exact reason for the birth of this line, although the desire to share leaves us exposed”.
The diversity in the tastes of the sisters is what drives and motivates the composition of this range. Sofia loves white wines, while Lucila is inclined to red wines, sometimes venturing into varieties barely explored by the family, such as Pinot Noir.
