Welcome Sisters´ Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Tags: sauvignon blanc, Gualtallary

In 2013, we launched a line of very personal wines, which we named Guarda Sisters´ Selection. In essence, they represent the commitment, passion and heart that the sisters Sofia and Lucila Pescarmona put day to day into Lagarde. Since the two sisters have very different personalities, thus singular wines are born but their connection will always be the quality of the terroir they come from, thanks to our special selection of unique parcels in outstanding vineyard locations.

The latest addition to this exclusive line is the Sauvignon Blanc 2017 made out of grapes from Gualtallary, specifically, a small lot set at 1.400 meters above sea level. It is a vibrant and mineral example of this variety, crafted for enjoying during lunch or dinner.

The Sister's Selection line does not come out every year, but only when the grapes and the wines exactly convey what we want to express. We look for flavor and intensity. Since Gualtallary is an area of outstanding sunlight and thermal amplitude, these vineyards provide intense color and structure to its fruit. It is an ideal spot to elaborate wines with aging potential such as this one.

For more than 15 years we have been working alongside our winemaker Juan Roby with the idea of developing balanced wines that go well with different cuisines and are easy to pair with our favorite recipes.

"We liked this Sauvignon Blanc in particular because it is a bit restrained, it is not very fruity, but we were very attracted to its palate, which has a saline profile uncommon to Mendoza. We got excited to be able to show a Sauvignon Blanc that comes from a very cold area, like Tupungato Alto ", explained Sofia Pescarmona, CEO of Lagarde Winery.

This creation now comes to join the two existing wines of the Sister's Selection line: a Chardonnay and a Red Blend that came out some years ago.

The Chardonnay was chosen by Sofia and has a very elegant freshness, high acidity and complexity and is round in the mouth. This wine also comes from Gualtallary, the first vintage is from 2016 and we made 1.895 bottles.

The Guarda Blend Sister's Selection, on the other hand, brings to light Lucila´s particular taste, pairing joyful notes and a 75% of Malbec, from Gualtallary, with 25% of Cabernet Franc, from Perdriel. The result is a bold variety, a true argentine red. We made 6.800 bottles in 2016.

These wines are made to celebrate with family and friends when the time is right but also made for toasting with guests when we host in the comfort of our home, or travel the world. It is ideal for people who share our same passion and love for wonderful wines.

Guarda Sister's Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2017 is limited to 2.550 bottles and already available in Argentina. The suggested price is $28-30 USD.

Aging: 100% of the wine was in stainless steel tanks and does not have malolactic fermentation.

Aging potential: over five years.
